For the past seven years Christian Science...

From the December 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For the past seven years Christian Science has been a constant help, giving me comfort, healing, and joy anew every day; but what I am most thankful for is the understanding of God as Father-Mother. This came to me just before I had to part with my son two years ago, when he had to join the army. I read the military papers that came to him and suddenly seemed to lose all that I had learned in Christian Science and was back in the old way of thinking, hating all the world except just my boy. Over and over again Mrs. Eddy's words, "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts" (Science and Health, p. 261), came to me and made me still; but I could not be happy. Then I told my trouble to the one who had helped me from the first, and was told to "hold on," and I knew it must be to "the enduring, the good, and the true." The Christian Science Monitor, which always seemed to meet my need, helped me then also, until at last I realized the government of spiritual law and was at peace. I can never say how thankful I am for this experience and I do thank God for our Leader, for the Lesson-Sermon, and for all the literature.—
