For a number of years I was affected with stomach trouble. Physicians all did their part faithfully, but as they gave me only temporary relief the proposed was made to me that I give up materia medica and try Christian Science. I did not believe that a God who sent good and evil could heal, so time went on, conditions remaining the same until two years had elapsed. Then while on a vacation at my parents' home I was thrown from a horse and to all appearances was in a critical state. My parents, being interested in Christian Science, spoke of my having a practitioner, but said to do exactly as I wished. I knew too well the suffering to be endured, and the length of time I should probably be helpless if I had a physician, so decided to try Christian Science. I was healed in thirteen treatments and can truthfully say I did not suffer at all. This healing seemed to me so rapid and so wonderful that I began to study in earnest. Soon afterwards, with the aid of a practitioner, I was almost instantaneously healed of the stomach trouble.
I am indeed thankful to God for such a one as Mrs. Eddy, so patient and long-suffering, and am grateful to her for giving to the world this textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which opens up the Bible and blesses mankind.
