Nearly five years ago I was very ill with congestion of the brain, which so affected my eyes that I was obliged to wear a green shade over dark glasses on account of a sense of intense pain caused by the light. While in this state of suffering, Christian Science was brought to my notice. At first I paid little heed to its loving message, but some weeks later when it was again presented to me I began to think that there was something in it which would meet my need. Treatment was asked for and after three months I was healed. Shade and glasses were discarded the fourth week and have never been used since. Although constantly ill before the healing of my eyes, I have not had occasion to spend a day in bed since beginning to study Science and Health.
For the physical healing I am indeed grateful, but for the spiritual uplift experienced, I can find no word adequate to express my gratitude to God. My constant desire is to live a purer, nobler life, to be ever ready to extend a helping hand to others. I am also very grateful for the comfort and the sense of security gained by the realization of the protecting power of divine Love in times of danger and alarm.
