Testimonies of Healing

For about three years I had been...

From the June 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For about three years I had been suffering from attacks of rheumatism, accompanied by fever and followed by a complication of heart, stomach, and foot trouble (named fallen arches by specialists). Well-known physicians gave me little encouragement that I could be restored to health, but warned me that I would be liable to experience renewed and more severe attacks. Finally I trusted my case entirely to Christian Science. Help was cheerfully given by a practitioner. Relief was experienced from the very start, and within three months I was completely healed of all these conditions. The healing took place over three years ago. There has been no return of any of these conditions, nor is there any fear of a return. Christian Science has since healed me of astigmatism. This healing enabled me to discard glasses which had been worn more than fifteen years.

While grateful for the physical cures, I have to acknowledge that they are the least of the healing I have experienced through Christian Science. Science has healed me of the tobacco and social drink habits. Since the healing of these habits about three years ago, I have been and am happier and more satisfied than when I considered them essential to my happiness. A craving for continuous excitement disappeared with the healing of these habits. Christian Science is enabling me to understand and love the Bible, which had been a closed book to me for years.

I am grateful for the protection and freedom enjoyed while with the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe, through the application of Christian Science, which when correctly applied always dispels discord of every nature. The literature was very helpful, and the Monitor was indispensable to me in seeing clearly what the conflict involved. The opportunity to study the daily Lesson-Sermons was then, as never before, appreciated, for this study brought to mind a clearer realization of the true Church. I must also acknowledge great appreciation for the hospitality of the Christian Science churches in Europe, and for the work of the Christian Science War Relief committee. Words alone are inadequate, however, for I know that true gratitude and loyalty to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, must be expressed by demonstration of the Christ, Truth.—
