I have long felt a desire to express my gratitude for the blessings which Christian Science has brought into my life and that of my family. For fifteen years I suffered from heart trouble, had consulted many physicians, and been an inmate of different sanatoriums, but without experiencing healing. Then Christian Science came to my attention. I purchased the book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and requested a Christian Science practitioner to help me. The improvement was slow but steady, so that in spite of the burdensome years of war and much unaccustomed work, I am able to state that I am strong and well. Even though error appears in one form or another at times, it has been proved to me at all times that there is only one power, and that is God, All-power. Through the textbook I have learned to value the Bible more highly.
I have had many proofs of the power of Truth. My husband frequently suffered from gallstones, and as at one time he had a severe attack and the doctors deemed an operation necessary, we asked a practitioner for help, and the difficulty was soon rectified. My son-in-law was completely debilitated, due to the severe hardships while at the front. For five or six weeks he was unconscious. The physicians diagnosed it as severe kidney trouble. Through the help of a practitioner he recovered in a short time. God's child, who lives and moves and has his being in the one Mind, can never be unconscious.
When my son returned from the front, he had an ugly looking rash, which was healed through the knowledge that, as Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 162), "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies." While participating in an athletic contest he wounded his knee severely. The physician who applied an emergency bandage was of the opinion that the knee would hardly heal before three or four weeks' time. We again asked for a practitioner's help, and after two or three days my son was again able to attend to his business.
