There are probably few people...

From the June 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There are probably few people who have more reason to be grateful to Christian Science than I have, and I wish to tell of a healing which took place in our home over two years ago. In October, 1917, our son, then three and one half years of age, was taken very ill with what was diagnosed as infantile paralysis. He lingered along for several weeks, and when he did show signs of improvement, it was discovered that he was paralyzed on his left side, including his arm and chest. He gained very little, and in a few weeks was again taken very ill. A physician was called and diagnosed the case as tuberculosis of the lungs in its worst form. I was frantic with fear and grief, for he was my only child.

When everything was done that medical skill could do, and he was given up, a friend presented Christian Science to us, which I gladly accepted and drove ten miles in a snowstorm with my boy to a practitioner. He showed signs of improvement immediately after arriving home. The fever vanished in a week and never returned. I gave up all medicines, and turned unreservedly to Christian Science, and in a few months he was completely restored to health. This healing has seemed most wonderful to me and all who witnessed it. The child is very well now and looks the picture of health. I am indeed grateful and am trying to live the Christian way of gratitude, and many, many times I thank God for all the workers in the field, and am especially grateful to the practitioner who so faithfully and fearlessly worked for him.—
