It is with a heart full of gratitude...

From the August 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with a heart full of gratitude that I give the following testimony. I have been interested in Christian Science since the summer of 1918 and have proved its power and received many blessings, all of which are very wonderful, and in the old way of thinking I should have said, "too good to be true," but I know now that the only things that are true are the good things. When I was first told of Christian Science by a kind friend, whom it was my privilege to work for, I was suffering from a belief of anæmia with its many complications, the worst of which in my case was a form of depression, which used to make not only me but every one around me very miserable. I was in a very depressed state at the time Christian Science came to my rescue. I gave up the doctor and went to a loving practitioner, and have gone forward ever since. I am now quite well and happy and know the trouble was caused through my own wrong thinking.

Christian Science is the greatest blessing that has ever come into my life. Several minor ailments have disappeared, one of which I will mention as I appreciate it so much. I have a tram ride of three-quarters of an hour to and from business every day, which I used to dread on account of feeling sick. That has been healed and I now enjoy the ride and usually spend the time reading the literature, which is very helpful. I think the greatest demonstration I have had was made last year. It was my duty to help my cousin (with whom I live) to wait upon some other members of the family, one of whom had influenza. I had only been home from business one day when my cousin took it, and about two days later her daughter also had to stay in bed suffering from what appeared to be the same complaint. As none of them are interested in Christian Science, we had two doctors coming to the house. The next day I felt very bad myself and apparently had all the symptoms of the same trouble, but I telegraphed to a practitioner for help. I felt better during the night and got up just as usual the next morning and did my work. I continued to have help for about a week but was able to wait on the others all the time, and nobody knew that I had ever felt ill, except the person who sent the telegram for me. I know quite well that had it not been for Christian Science I would have collapsed. This all makes me feel so grateful and I long for others to benefit from this practical religion that has made me so happy.—
