With deep gratitude to God for Christian Science, through which I am coming to know Him as He is, I want to tell of a few of the many benefits I have received, hoping that through my testimony others may also be led to Christ, Truth.
Eighteen years ago, after a physical and mental strain of fifteen months' duration, I developed what is known as nervous indigestion. Subsequently for ten years I searched (medically) for health; the more because my physical condition was preventing what promised to be a brilliant musical career. Stomach specialists were consulted and their advice carefully followed, but, needless to say, no lasting benefits resulted, and I suffered more or less continuously, and at times intensely. At the end of ten years two well-known physicians diagnosed my case as ulceration of the stomach. In less than two weeks after this pronouncement I found myself in a very serious condition, and a few days later was taken to a hospital to undergo an operation, which I am thankful to say was later decided to be unnecessary. After three weeks' treatment I was taken to the mountains to recuperate, and a month later returned to my home in much the same physical condition as formerly.
Four years later I had a recurrence of the same trouble, at which time the history of my case was carefully reviewed and it was then decided that nothing could be done for me and that I would always be subject to recurrences of the ulcerated condition. Although discouraged and almost hopeless I refused to consider an operation when it was suggested as a last and only hope. Two years later another attack was imminent but never developed, for the truth as taught by Mary Baker Eddy in her wonderful book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" was brought to my notice by two dear friends whose lives had been transformed. They gave me Christian Science literature and, as I read, that peace which passeth understanding came to me. I believe mine was instantaneous healing. I had worn glasses for eight years and had been told by a well-known oculist of New York city that I would never be able to do without them because of extreme astigmatism. He was wrong, for shortly after the first healing, which took place nearly three years ago, I laid aside the glasses and have not used them since.
