About twelve years ago a young...

From the February 1921 issue of The Christian Science Journal

About twelve years ago a young couple residing in my home suffered severely, owing to the wife's illness. Physicians considered the condition very serious and, on account of her extreme weakness, were unable to send her to a sanatorium. In this extremity Christian Science made its appearance, and after a fortnight the young woman, who had been completely helpless, was out walking, although supported.

At that time my son passed on from tuberculosis, leaving a wife and little eighteen-months-old daughter. This little child evidently had the same disease. She did not grow, and the face was disfigured by constant suppuration from a wound. We were obliged to take her home from a nursery where she had been cared for some time, as the nurses feared that she would pass away while under their care; also, sick children were not permitted to remain there, owing to the fear of contagion. Hopeless, we took the child to our home, so that she might at least be with us when she died.

The happy young husband whose wife had been healed heard of my granddaughter's illness, and paid us a visit. He asked to see the child, who was lying helpless in a small basket, and comforted my weeping wife with the words that it was not God's will that the baby should die; that God is Love, and had created all of His children perfect. Then he talked to the child, who, after this first visit, became livelier and made an effort to lift herself and to wave her hands. The gentleman came frequently, gave us copies of Der Herold to read, played with baby, and helped her take her first steps. The child is now thirteen years of age, well developed, and quite healthy. I give this testimony for publication in gratitude for this healing.—
