The overturning of human ways of thinking and doing that was exemplified in the war must proceed until, as Paul said, "every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God" and "every thought" is brought "to the obedience of Christ." This casting down of every high thing has been evident not only in the politics of nations, in the relations of capital and labor, and in the affairs of organizations, but in families and personal activities of every sort. Whatever would try to tyrannize over a man has to be reduced to nothingness in the process by which all are turned together to the truth that divine Principle governs the real man.
This revision of the human sense of things is not essentially socialistic, as socialism is usually thought of. Mrs. Eddy once said, in "Retrospection and Introspection" (p. 28), "I believe in no ism." Christian Science shows that the only permanent basis on which to work is the basis of absolute Principle and its expression. This true foundation is quite different from any system of human theories and practices.
To cast down the false belief which supposes itself to be "I," when there is really but one I AM, the divine Mind, is the fundamental work. In fact, it is this impostor, claiming to argue, "I am sick," "I am afraid," "I lack something," or, "I cannot work with my present associates," that has to be overthrown by the understanding of the infinite I AM to whom unlimited good alone is possible. Each one who accepts for himself the one intelligence as the sole producing power, and uses this understanding in every relationship of daily experience, helps in the solving of all the problems of human society. When all turn together to the one Mind, which knows only the truth, false domination of any sort, whether autocratic, anarchistic, or mesmeric in any way, subsides before the demonstration of the actual I AM. On page 258 of "Miscellaneous Writings," Mrs. Eddy says, "The name, I AM, indicated no personality that could be paralleled with it; but it did declare a mighty individuality, even the everlasting Father, as infinite consciousness, ever-presence, omnipotence; as all law, Life, Truth, and Love."
