The blessings that have come to...

From the February 1921 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The blessings that have come to me through Christian Science are so many it would take long to enumerate them, but I would like to testify to some of them, and also to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has brought and is daily bringing into my life.

I have had many physical healings, and have also been helped mentally, morally, and financially. I have been healed of chronic constipation and of an organic trouble of many years' standing, from which I had suffered many things, including partial invalidism. The healing which seemed most wonderful to me was the healing of my eyes of an infectious disease which grew worse so rapidly that I felt the need of the help of a practitioner, and later called upon a medical doctor for a diagnosis, who pronounced it to be the most virulent infection and stated that if it was what he believed it to be I would lose my sight. For several days it seemed as if his opinion was almost justifiable, but on the night of the ninth day of treatment by a Christian Science practitioner the eyes, which up to that time had not seemed to be any better, were healed, and after a few days all trace of inflammation was gone. My gratitude to God and to Mrs. Eddy for Christian Science knows no bounds, not only for this healing but for the wonderful uplift of thought which came with the healing, and for the unfoldment of the truth, revealing man and the universe as spiritual and harmonious. I felt, as did John while on the Isle of Patmos, that I had seen a new heaven and new earth. There followed a desire to know this healing Principle, which desire would not be stilled until satisfied through study and application, followed by practical proofs of the healing power of Christian Science.

With all the good that has come to me I believe I am most grateful that Christian Science has taught me, in some measure, how to love according to Principle. I have proved that to love right on through any experience will, without doubt, preserve the harmonious relationship which in reality exists in all of God's creation and that only by loving God supremely and our neighbor as ourselves are we loving according to Principle. Christian Science is the religion of love and I am daily striving to prove my gratitude to our Leader by living according to her teachings as far as I understand them, and by constantly striving for a clearer apprehension, that I may be fitted to do the works which Christ Jesus did and commanded his followers to do. I am indeed grateful to the kind practitioners who have faithfully, and with such patience, helped me as a student of Christian Science, and also for the many channels for the truth which have been so wisely provided by Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, to whom the world owes the deepest debt of love and gratitude.—
