Before taking up the study of Christian Science I had a very confused concept of God. I was very much puzzled by passages in the Bible which seemed to describe God as subject to change, at one time blessing and at another time turning from His people, and I thought that discord was the result of God turning away from us. I am so glad to learn in Christian Science that God is immutable, that it is our turning from God and not His turning from us which brings discord, and that the remedy is found in following Job's advice: "Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee."
I did not turn to Christian Science for physical healing, but shortly after taking up the study I was to prove its healing power. I fell and sprained my ankle, which swelled and became discolored, causing me much pain and discomfort. I applied the little understanding I had of Christian Science, with the result that in a few days my ankle was quite well again and I had not missed a day from my work. At another time I had symptoms of influenza and this yielded quickly to Christian Science treatment.
