It is more than two years since we took up the study of Christian Science in our home, for which we have reason to be most grateful. Although I was reared in a Christian home I never felt fully satisfied and at times felt almost rebellious toward God. I could not see why a just God should send so much trouble upon me, but since studying Science I have learned that He does not send these things upon us, to show His power, as I once believed.
My husband had severe stomach trouble, neuritis, and throat trouble. He tried many physicians and numerous patent medicines, and had his tonsils and teeth removed, hoping to relieve neuritis, which was at times almost unbearable, but all to no avail. We had both felt for some time that Christian Science is the true way, but we were not quite ready to accept it, until a case of healing came under our observation and thoroughly convinced us that there was truth in it. We immediately visited a practitioner, who took up treatment that same evening. The next day my husband ate a good dinner without any discomfort whatever, which he had not done for months, and he has had no return of the stomach trouble. Neuritis yielded almost as quickly; the throat trouble has also disappeared, and he has gained twenty-five pounds.
My son and I have been enabled to lay aside glasses, after having worn them for years. I had been under a physician's care almost constantly since our first baby came ten years ago. I underwent an operation, but with little benefit. Now, however, I am perfectly well. Our one-year-old baby girl who came shortly after we began the study of Christian Science is indeed a testimony in herself. She has had several wonderful healings from severe colds which seemed to threaten her with pneumonia, but the truth has been the only means of healing in each case. These with many other healings and demonstrations have brought joy to our home. We are indeed grateful for the benefits derived, also for the spiritual understanding which has satisfied a longing for something deeper and better.— Quincy, Illinois.
