It is with deep gratitude that I wish to testify to all the help that I have received and am daily receiving through the study of Christian Science. When I first heard of this wonderful truth some years ago, I was at once attracted by the spiritual teaching but did not at first think much about the healing of disease, which is, as I very soon found out, a natural sequence of the righteous thinking that one learns to do in Christian Science. Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 185), "The will of God, or power of Spirit, is made manifest as Truth, and through righteousness,—not as or through matter, —and it strips matter of all claims, abilities or disabilities, pains or pleasures."
I had been very delicate from childhood and at the time Christian Science was brought to my notice was rapidly becoming an invalid. I had always suffered from a weak back, severe throat trouble, and many other ailments, and was continually being kept in bed for weeks at a time. When Christian Science was introduced to a member of my family I became interested and attended the services. I went to one of the reading rooms to talk to a Scientist, and as my back was giving me great pain that day, I decided to ask for help. After three treatments I was entirely healed of that trouble and have been free ever since. My general health improved rapidly as I continued the study of Christian Science, and my throat gradually became stronger. I had one very serious attack of double quinsy with other complications, but help was lovingly given by a practitioner and after a rather severe testing time the error disappeared. This was about seven years ago. I have had one attack of quinsy since, during which I was helped by a member of my family and it was quickly overcome. Whereas in former times I was kept in bed for two or three weeks and then had a long convalescence, I did not on this occasion stay in bed at all and was as active as usual in a day or two.
This has been a great proof to me of the power of God to heal all our diseases. I have also been healed of attacks of internal cramp, influenza, and many minor ills. A badly sprained knee was cured almost instantaneously. I am more grateful than I can say for the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, which sheds such great light on the Bible, enabling us to realize that Jesus' commands, "Cast out devils," and "Heal the sick," were meant for all people in every age. I should like to add my thanks for The Christian Science Quarterly, Journal, Sentinel, and Monitor, which Mrs. Eddy in her farseeing wisdom instituted for the benefit of mankind.— London, England.
