My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for His goodness. When the desire first came to me to read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, there seemed to be a lack of supply. On first reading Science and Health I realized that it is the truth and I read during every spare moment. I had no money with which to buy the textbook, but my desire was so great for it that I felt confident God would supply my need. I therefore did not plan any possible source through which it would come. It came when I had to give up the one which was so kindly lent to me.
The healing of lack has been gradual. During this time I have had many physical healings, but my greatest blessing is the spiritual understanding of God which has enabled me to know that God is the giver of all good. Just recently I had a struggle with regard to giving. I gave, not with the thought of getting, but knowing "all is thine,O Lord," and have proved that, as Mrs. Eddy says, "giving does not impoverish us in the service of our Maker, neither does withholding enrich us" (Science and Health, p. 79). I can truly say, in the words of the psalmist, "My cup runneth over." I am grateful to God, to Christ Jesus the Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy for giving to the world the understanding of our Master's teachings. — Memphis, Tennessee.
