IN the hope that my experience may help others to find the sure way out of what is to mortal sense a hopeless situation, I will say that my life, health, and happiness are due to the understanding of God and of man, created by Him in His image and likeness, as explained in Christian Science.
Riding in an automobile, a sudden turning by the driver threw me to the paved street, my head struck the street car rail and I became unconscious. An ambulance was called and took me to the hospital, and my wife was then notified. As we were newcomers to that city, living at a hotel, and our supply of money very small, the way indeed seemed dark and uncertain. A consultation of medical men reported my case one of fracture of the skull, proved by suffusion of blood, and a concussion of the brain, sure to result in death unless an immediate operation was performed, and even then there would be but one chance in a thousand for my recovery. My wife did not permit the operation and told them that my life was in -God's hands.
The truth of man's creation in God's image and likeness, perfect and spiritual, was known and declared for me by my wife and a practitioner, and to the amazement of the medical men I did not pass on. It was then said that I might live but would be mentally irresponsible and it would be necessary to confine me in some institution. Again the medical law was proved of none effect against the real, spiritual man. Then it was said that at least there would be intense suffering from headache for the balance of my life. This law, too, has been absolutely without effect. Neither medicine nor material methods were used and my recovery was complete in a very short time; and, as the medical specialist frankly stated, God alone healed me.
