Christian Science has revolutionized my thinking; therefore, it has regenerated my life. I have received many beautiful physical healings; but wonderful as these have been, it is the spiritual regeneration of which I wish to write. Having found me with an elusive, indefinite concept of God, Christian Science has given me a definite, practical, lovable God; having found me irreligious, it has given me a religion; having found me viewing life from an utterly material standpoint, it is giving me the true understanding of Life—the Life which is Spirit; having found me believing in the reality of sin, sickness, and death, it is teaching me their unreality; having found me believing in minds many, it has taught me that "all men have one Mind, one God and Father, one Life, Truth, and Love," as Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 467); having found me enchained by the mesmerism of personality, it is breaking the chain of that enslavement.
Another of the many blessings which Christian Science has brought me is the unlocking of that golden treasury, the New Testament. Born and reared in the Jewish faith, the New Testament was virtually a sealed book to me until I came into Christian Science. My early religious teaching was received from one whose broad and tolerant thought prevented him from inculcating upon my youthful mind any prejudice against Christ Jesus. I shall always be profoundly grateful for this teaching.
A few years ago I was traveling from Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Casper, Wyoming. I left Cheyenne about one o'clock in the afternoon in perfect health. About eight o'clock in the evening I had a severe attack of asthma. I endeavored to know the truth, as we are taught in Christian Science. While at times I was able to get some relief, when I reached my destination at about one o'clock in the morning I was in a serious condition. I was unable to get in touch with a local practitioner, and it was not until the following noon that I was able to dispatch a telegram to my wife requesting her help. At five o'clock that evening I was absolutely healed, entirely free from pain and breathing normally for the first time in twenty-four hours.
