A year ago I was attacked with appendicitis. The suffering was almost unbearable, and for a time it was a struggle between the belief of life and death. So serious was my condition that all night, every half hour, my wife telephoned the conditions to the practitioner in New York city.
My loving mother and wife were at my side during the hours of my struggle. At times there was quite a long interval in getting my breath; but during all this vigil I never ceased to hold in thought Mrs. Eddy's statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 414), "Keep in mind the verity of being,—that man is the image and likeness of God, in whom all being is painless and permanent." At five o'clock in the morning I arose from the couch perfectly healed, and told the dear ones around me to retire; that the light had come. After a few hours' sleep I arose and dressed and went to the park. A friend who knew of my condition telephoned to inquire about me and was amazed to hear I had gone to the park for a walk. For some weeks I had symptoms of this disease, but the trouble was always handled in Christian Science and healing was obtained.
I am most grateful for this experience. From it I received more spiritual understanding, and consequently progressed nearer to the kingdom of heaven—the ever-presence of divine Love.—Albany, New York.
