Three years ago I became ill. A physician diagnosed the case as typhus fever accompanied by inflamed membrane of the brain. He called three times a day; but my condition grew worse from day to day. When I was seemingly about to pass on, Christian Science was suggested to my parents by a neighbor. Treatment was started immediately. I fell asleep, and slept for twenty-four hours. When I awoke, the fever was gone, but I could not hear or talk. The physician declared this condition to be incurable; but the practitioner did not cease working; and slowly my voice and hearing were restored. The physician, whom I met after I was healed, said to me that he never expected to see me walk again. A few weeks later I was able to do my work. The healing was complete, and the headache which I used to have almost every day before I was healed by Christian Science, has disappeared. This healing took place in Zurich, Switzerland.
A year after that I left Europe for America. I had not been here long when I met with an accident, whereby I lost two fingers. I went to a Christian Science practitioner, and had treatment begin immediately. As a result, I did not feel the least pain; and in four weeks was completely healed. My employers felt I should be incapable of doing my work again, so I lost my position. I knew that intelligence is a mental state and not a state of matter, and that, therefore, the loss of a material member could not take away anything from God's idea; that God's idea always expresses perfect action. I soon found another position. I not only could do the same work very well, but did not miss the fingers at all.
