In the year 1914 I took up the study of Christian Science for the healing of my son's eyes. They were very weak and inflamed, supposedly as the after effect of measles. This healing was slow, but effectual. Through the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, in the next few months I myself was able to lay aside glasses which had been worn for eight years, and was also healed of weak ankles, train sickness, very sore and tender feet, and organic weaknesses. Several of my neighbors thought I was in the first stages of tuberculosis; but this trouble was corrected; and I was completely healed through the understanding gained by the study of the textbook and Mrs. Eddy's other writings, without other effort on my part.
Our little son was healed of pneumonia in two weeks. I had always had a fear of this disease, having heard that it was quick and powerful. But when it appeared in our home I never doubted the efficacy of Christian Science to heal it. Although the child was very ill, the healing came so completely that at the end of two weeks he was in his place at Sunday school, and took a long walk in the afternoon. Through this beautiful healing my husband was led to take up the study of this truth. At another time a very malicious phase of evil tried to break up the health, harmony, and happiness of our home, but was completely annihilated. I could not tell of the many healings we have had, and of the wonderful protection in times of so-called epidemics. Christian Science is regenerating me in many ways, casting out impatience, self-pity, self-will, and wrong thinking in general, and showing me how to meet these errors daily, and to overcome them.
