Having received so many benefits...

From the March 1924 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Having received so many benefits through the study of Christian Science, I should like to write about them in the hope of helping others. In March, 1920, I experienced a very annoying pain in my knee; but, like all other difficulties of the kind, I felt it would disappear through my own Christian Science reading. As I left the house the next morning, however, I did not get more than across the street when I realized that to go farther would be sheer will-power; so I turned back, and called a Christian Science practitioner for help. For two days and nights the pain was almost unbearable, but suddenly it left. Although I had no more pain, I was not able to walk without a cane for about ten days. I saw some one in a hospital several weeks later who had the same condition. He had been in a wheel chair for two months, and did not know when he was going to get out of it, as the doctors could not promise him anything. I am deeply grateful to God for this added proof of His power. I am grateful for the loving help of the practitioner, who knew enough of the truth to help deliver me from this false claim.

This past year I had another proof of the power of Truth to heal discordant conditions. A ligament in my leg was displaced, making it almost impossible for me to walk; but after calling for help in Science I soon had relief, and was able to go out the next day without discomfort. I had a great fear to overcome in this instance, as I had seen the same condition before; and many unpleasant suggestions came to me at this time.

Christian Science has been a wonderful help to me in business, in overcoming obstacles and working out problems which, but for the knowledge of Christian Science, I could not have mastered. In fact, my whole life has been changed, and I am being guided and directed daily by this truth as it is taught by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and her other writings. I had found a great deal of pleasure in smoking, but the time came through my study when I saw clearly that this false desire was a hindrance to my spiritual progress; and so smoking was let go just the same as anything else must be which stands in our way. I was so interested in learning more of Christian Science that from the time I made my decision the desire left me.
