FREEDOM

From the March 1924 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Praise be to God, and blessed be this day
When men, released from the despotic sway
Of mortal mind and error's thrall, may rise
And climb the mount to Truth's own paradise.
At last with laurel him alone we crown
Who by true work shall merit fair renown,
And know the freedom which the Father gave.
And loose his thought from shackles of the slave.

Untrammeled, free as mountain air, we find
Our lives illumined by the only Mind;
And stretching out before us we may see
The path which leads to God's sweet harmony;
And as we journey o'er it, speed, 0 day,
As lightnings through the dismal storm clouds play,
The truth with nobler thoughts mankind inspire,
And toward the great Eternal lift us higher.
