Over five years ago, when a friend asked me to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the thought came to me that I did not need Christian Science as I was not sick. But at her request I read it, along with the Lesson-Sermons given in the Christian Science Quarterly; and I was healed of an ungovernable temper. I learned that Christian Science heals sin as well as sickness; and after that healing came, I did so hunger and thirst after righteousness. I was filled with the desire for righteousness that leads along the only practical road to happiness. I have since been healed of influenza, and of smallpox after intense suffering for forty-eight hours. I have always found that when any of the so-called prevailing diseases of children have manifested themselves, the healing has come almost instantly when the understanding of what God is to man has been rightly applied. Our little son was overcome with stammering when he first began to talk, and until the teaching of Science and Health was rightly applied to his case; since then he has been able to talk plainly and distinctly.
Many other healings have come through the teachings of our beloved Leader; and I am so thankful, so grateful to her for these physical helps, and for the practical religion that has proved of such value in my daily life. — Brawley, Calif.
