For all the wonderful blessings Christian Science has brought to me and mine I am indeed grateful. I had never been a church attendant, but on the invitation of a friend and neighbor I attended the Christian Science testimony meeting one Wednesday evening in the year 1913. The meeting so impressed me that upon my return home I resolved I would give Christian Science a trial the next time I had a problem to solve. Shortly after this I was taken ill with the grippe. With the little knowledge I had of the blessed Christ, Truth, I was able to overcome my fear and to demonstrate the healing.
All my life I had been in constant fear of conditions which very seldom came to pass. Through the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I have been lifted above that fear in a wonderful measure; for that book and the other writings of our revered Leader are teaching me the meaning of those beautiful words of John: "Perfect love casteth out fear."
Before taking up the study of Christian Science I was a constant sufferer from kidney trouble, which would confine me to my bed from two to three weeks at a time. When this trouble manifested itself in a very severe form, and after two days of my own mental work I seemed to be unable to make any headway or to see any improvement, I telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner and asked for treatment. Within ten minutes I was relieved of all pain, as well as fear, and have had no return of the ailment.
