Testimonies of Healing

When I took up the study of...

From the September 1924 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When I took up the study of Christian Science through the healing of a loved sister from what had been diagnosed as an incurable disease, at first I found it to my unenlightened sense, as Mrs. Eddy says in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 558), "obscure, abstract, and dark," and several times I closed the book with a feeling of hopelessness, so different was it from the teaching I had been accustomed to all my life. But I took up the study again and again, and finally found what I had been so long seeking.

For the past twelve years Christian Science has been the anchor to which my life's bark has trusted in many storms and tempests, and it has never failed when properly relied upon. One beautiful instance of healing was when I fell from my horse and broke my arm. After a few days of Science treatment, to oblige a dear one who was not satisfied that everything possible was being done unless some material means were in evidence, I consented to have an X-ray examination, which showed a double fracture; but the broken parts had knitted together so that no surgery was needed.

Christian Science has brought to me divine healing in conditions of sorrow, bereavement, financial loss, and loneliness; and faults in character have been uncovered and destroyed. These healings cause uplifted thoughts of gratitude, coupled with a joyous sense of protection and increasing good, evidenced daily in proportion as I watch that my actions may express more gratitude than my words.
