I have been wonderfully benefited through the application of Christian Science, and have had many demonstrations. The healings have not always been instantaneous, but those that have been delayed have given me an opportunity for more study of the truth.
When I was twenty-one our family physician gave my father the news that I should be with him only a few months, as he said consumption had a death grip on me, and there was no chance for me to survive more than a short time. In those days my life was not a very pleasant one; for I had only two desires— the one to get drunk, the other to get killed by accident. I was without hope until I learned something of Christian Science, and found that God is Mind, and that I could not escape my troubles even by suicide, something I thought of often after getting over a periodical drinking bout.
Since learning of Christian Science, I have overcome all desire for drink and all fear of consumption. A year ago I was healed of pneumonia, being confined to my home but two days. I have been healed of rheumatism that I always had before coming into Christian Science; of stomach trouble for which I had been doctored and dieted; of broken arches, ulcerated tooth, toothache, influenza; and I have found in Christian Science the way to solve trying business problems. Prior to hearing of Christian Science and taking up the study of it I had not attended church for years, and had become a pronounced infidel.
