OUR PRAYER

From the April 1925 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Our Father, as we reverently bow
To lift our hearts to Thee,
Give us to know Thy presence here and now
And evermore to be.

Speak to our weary hearts Thy word of peace,
Our turbulence restrain,
That as for us sin's dominance shall cease,
Thy blessed calm we gain.

Fulfill for us the lack we recognize.
The want to us unknown;
By Thy great love, which every need supplies,
Restore to us our own.

And let us with deep gratitude accept
Each his appointed share
From Thy dear bounty, for this moment kept,
And ready at our prayer.

Then in the shielding silence let us raise
Our hearts in unity,
That so in rising we may utter praise
As by one voice to Thee!
