In September, 1921, I experienced a wonderful healing and revelation of divine Love. I know no language adequate to express my gratitude for all my blessings. I had suffered for many years from neurasthenia. I had also injured my spine, and this caused many internal complications, making my life a misery. One medical man who had attended me for many years suggested an operation, to which my husband gave consent. Arrangements were being made with a specialist, and I was waiting to go into the nursing home. During this period of waiting divine Love was revealed to me, meeting my human need and suffering through dear, loyal Christian Scientists. They told me of the living Christ, that would heal all my diseases.
I had an instantaneous mental healing, and after an earnest and prayerful study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for one month, many wonderful revelations came to me. I was led to learn something of the great love of God for man. Not only was I healed of all my physical suffering, but mental agonies such as jealousy, malice, envy, like unto old and filthy rags, fell from me. Since first hearing of Christian Science and proving its efficacy our family have sought no other remedy. Our children have been wonderfully blessed, and have experienced many healings. The eldest child, aged ten years, contracted a pernicious blood poisoning in the foot, and the infection rapidly spread to the knee. I worked some days on the case, but the condition seemed worse, and a younger child developed the same difficulty. Both children were, however, healed. One child was also healed of bladder trouble of seven years' standing. The second child, aged six, fell from a tree, breaking a bone in the wrist. I asked a practitioner to give him treatment, and he was healed within a week. Both children were healed of measles in a few days; and although the baby, three weeks old, was in contact with them, she did not develop the disease. The baby, I am grateful to say, was born under Christian Science treatment. The birth was an example of the fact that perfect love casts out fear. The harmony, purity, love, and joy that this little one brings into our home is, indeed, much to be grateful for.
It is my earnest prayer that I may so live as to express my gratitude, in deed as well as word, by becoming more childlike, loving, tender, and patient with the little ones.— Gidea Park, Essex, England.
