"LET THERE BE LIGHT"

From the September 1925 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Let there be light," is God's command.
No clouds of error can withstand
This power unlabored—great its might!
Be glad! Give thanks! for there is light.

Light of intelligence divine
Spreads through the world its rays sublime.
Undimmed, unspent, they bless and heal;
To all a newborn hope reveal.

Light of the Christ, Truth, shines to-day;
Full its effulgence, grand its sway:
Bringing redemption, far and near,
From seeming bondage wrought by fear.

Life that is light, unfettered, free,
Constant its blessed ministry.
To hearts receptive joy is given,
And here and now a glimpse of heaven.

"Let there be light"! Hear thou God's voice.
Fling wide thought's portals, and rejoice!
The day 's at hand! Truth's golden beam
Makes naught the darkness and the dream.
