When a very young child, I suffered an attack of infantile paralysis which left me with one leg much shorter and smaller than the other. I was also in a very nervous condition. During my school years, I was very irregular in attendance at school on account of ill health and lack of strength. When I reached young womanhood it was necessary for me to have an extension sole and heel on one shoe to enable me to walk. I walked in this way for a number of years, and also lived on a restricted diet to avoid suffering from acute indigestion and diseases of the nerves. Many times I felt life to be a burden.
About five or six years ago, without any thought of physical healing, I turned to Christian Science, because I felt the need of a vital religion. In a very short time, my mother called my attention to the fact that I was eating a great many kinds of food which had been forbidden by the doctor several years before. Unconsciously I was eating what I wanted; and as there was no fear, there were no bad results. Two years ago my leg had become properly elongated, so that I discarded the high-soled shoe; and I was very happy indeed. In a few months the leg became normal in size.
As I meditate on the goodness of God and the perfection of His creation, realizing the source of my health, happiness, and joy, words are inadequate to express my gratitude. I am indeed grateful for my changed thought about God and man; for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower; for Mrs. Eddy's pure thought, which enabled her to give this truth to the world; and for the loving work of the practitioner, who has helped me so often to realize the truth that makes free.— Fort Wayne, Indiana.
