A short time ago I fell heavily down some very slippery steps outside my home on the Crown Mines, Johannesburg, into an open cemented drain, breaking my wrist. I picked myself up and sat for a minute or two on the step, declaring that God was my help. I then straightened the arm, and went to the nearest telephone and telephoned to my husband, who then rang up a practitioner and a doctor, as the practitioner advised me to have the bones set. A little later, I called up the practitioner myself, and she read a few lines from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy (p. 402), telling me to hold the thought that material beliefs could not interfere with spiritual facts. The doctor had the arm X-rayed, and as if quoting my thoughts said, "Your arm is so well set, I will not interfere with it." At the same time, however, he said that on account of the small bones being all chipped I would always have a stiff wrist; but I am happy to say the wrist is now quite normal. I can write and sew and do everything the same as before; and the night after the accident I slept well.
I have had many healings in Christian Science. Twelve years ago I was healed of chronic erysipelas. About three years ago, while I was filling a position that kept me standing for twelve hours a day, my ankles swelled to an enormous size. I asked help from a practitioner; and in one treatment they were completely healed, and have remained so ever since.
I am indeed very grateful to Christian Science, and also to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who gave us such a wonderful textbook as Science and Health.—Crown Mines, Johannesburg, Transvaal, South Africa.
