"AN HOUSE NOT MADE WITH HANDS"

From the September 1926 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Oh, blessed, peaceful, restful Church of Christ;
Oh, blessed consciousness of Truth and Life,
Within thy quietude is joy divine,
That knows no separation—mine or thine.
Our God is Love—eternal, boundless Love;
Our fellow worshipers are all mankind.
The fatherhood of God, the brotherhood of man,
Bind us in purpose without form or creed;
The prayer for help, for loving kindliness,
That echoes in each heart attuned to good,
Calls us to service every day and hour,
Wherever sorrow is, or pain, or fear. And thus,
Our place of worship is the whole wide world;
Its altar is the wondrous heart of Love,
Where all earth's burdened ones may rest a while,
Finding refreshment in its healing balm,
And Christlike ministry, which reaches forth
To meet each unvoiced need. We wait on God,
And comforted we journey on our way
Illumined by the steady light of Truth.
We journey onward with its holy light,
Reflecting, step by step, its radiance;
So wonderful is just a ray of Truth
That stranger, friend, and every passer-by
May feel the touch of confidence and faith;
Of love for God expressed in love for man.
