Early in 1921 I was raised from invalidism of a number of years' standing through Christian Science treatment, and since that invocation and demonstration of divine power I have grown in the strength and gladness of spiritual discernment.
From childhood my health had been delicate. It had been sustained during my high school and college training, but slowly declined under teaching and other pursuits. My efforts for recovery included trials of many of the pathological practices now in vogue, and not all of them were wholly material in character; yet it was not until I laid hold of the absolutely spiritual, as found in Christian Science, that the change came.
At the time of this momentous crisis I was so weak that I could not remain up for more than three hours without being wretchedly exhausted. My days were spent in a large hammock, or on a couch, with artificial heat, and under a great load of covers. In five days after commencing Christian Science treatment the hammock was taken up to the attic. Those first few weeks were of unsurpassed effort on my part for continuous daytime activity, either physical or mental. At the end of the seventh week I testified in church to the healing of anaemia, constipation, catarrh, and a painful back trouble. The following summer I suddenly realized that I should no longer wear glasses.
