While recovering from one of...

From the October 1927 issue of The Christian Science Journal

While recovering from one of many attacks of appendicitis, I was handed Christian Science literature by a friend who was very much interested in me. I was so miserable that I did not really enjoy reading the literature, as I never cared to read anything. However, one day the thought came to me: Well, my eyes do not hurt; I can surely use them. Unable to do much of anything but read, I began the earnest study of Christian Science, and in a very short time became greatly interested. I secured help from a practitioner, and was instantaneously healed of extreme nervousness and insomnia; and in about three weeks' time I was completely healed of appendicitis, from which I had suffered since a child, having been told time and again by my physician that an operation was all that would ever rid me of the so-called disease. I also had an instantaneous healing of defective eyesight and the use of glasses. Kidney and bladder disease, in one of the worst stages, has vanished into its native nothingness.

I should also like to relate a recent healing—which was instantaneous— of a broken arch. I tried to do my own work from six o'clock until ten in the evening, but finally realized that I needed help from a practitioner. I was hardly able to get to the telephone, but after calling I had instantaneous relief. In about fifteen minutes I fell asleep, and have had no trace of the trouble since.

I am indeed grateful for Christian Science and to the loving practitioner who has so clearly pointed out the way to me, always strictly in accordance with the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Words can never express my heartfelt gratitude for all that our dear Leader has provided for the health and happiness of all mankind.—
