Testimonies of Healing

I was introduced to Christian Science...

From the June 1927 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I was introduced to Christian Science in 1904, and can truthfully say I have never met such a friend before or since. At that time there was a small Christian Science Society, not a dozen people in all, which used to meet in different homes on Wednesday evenings to read the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and to give their experiences. My husband was one of the first to experience a miraculous healing, after he had been bedridden for three months and all medical aid had failed. Christian Science healed him when the doctors pronounced that he was in the last stage of Bright's disease. It was not so easy to stick to Christian Science then as now, when one hears it voiced on all sides, and sees proofs of every kind of its power to heal.

I cannot say that I have not gone through dark waters; and I have had to come down from the mount into the valley many times. There have been walls of rock and seeming discord of every kind, but when the mist has lifted, there was Christian Science smiling at me. Who would not rise, take up his cross, and follow on? I rely wholly on Christian Science, and it has never failed me. If there has been a seeming failure, it was I who failed, not Science. My blessings seem almost as many as the leaves on the tree to me. I have been healed of typhoid fever, influenza, and a distressing disease of the limbs, caused from the latter.

When only a babe in Christian Science, I came away from all friends and was placed among those who had only antagonistic thoughts for the Cause. But man's extremity. proved to be God's opportunity; for then and there did I learn that not personality, but God, the Father of all, is the healer of the sick. I recall that our little boy, aged three, became very ill one night and was delirious, with very high fever. His father's fear was very great, as the child knew neither of us. We could not, had we so desired, obtain any help. My fear also was so great that I left the scene and went into another room. With my small understanding, but abundance of hope and faith, I opened Science and Health and began to read. I had not read long when I heard a little voice break the silence and call for a drink. Oh, the joy! he knew us again! We all went to bed, knowing God had answered our prayer. The next day the child was out playing. I tried to live in the truth contained in the beautiful words of a hymn:
