Testimonies of Healing

I should like to express my deep...

From the June 1927 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I should like to express my deep gratitude for the many healings that have come into my life since the Christian Science textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was given me, for I was then a very delicate person. I had just recovered from a serious operation. After three months in a nursing home, attended by one of the best surgeons, I was told by him on leaving that I need never expect to be like other people; and a very strict diet was prescribed. Thanks to the blessed truth in Science and Health I am now able to eat what is put before me, with no bad results. Ulcerated throat, intense headaches, impatience, and a wish always to be arguing with people, have yielded to the great truths taught in our beloved textbook.

I should like to tell of a quick healing I had while staying away from home, where no Scientists were. A cist appeared on my shoulder and became very painful and inflamed. I did not bother about it until one day these words came to me from our Leader's writings: "All that error asks is to be let alone" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 211). That night I stayed with friends who were Christian Scientists, and through the loving words spoken by one of the household a few days later there was not any sign left of the cist; and it has been a permanent healing.

When my dear father passed on, the loving and immediate help of the practitioner who has helped me over many difficulties, relieved me of the sense of separation, and enabled me to help others at that time. One night, when I was suffering from an acute pain in my eye. a very beautiful healing came through repeating a few words from our Leader's poem (Poems, p. 4), "O gentle presence." I do not remember getting sleepy, but as I was trying to realize that there is only the one "presence" I must have gone to sleep, conscious of heavenly harmony. When I awoke it was morning, and the pain was gone.
