When my baby boy was about four months old, a lump about the size and shape of a small hen's egg appeared on his groin. This simply and naturally disappeared in a very short time as the result of an earnest effort to apply the truth as taught in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. My little daughter appeared to be subject to bilious attacks. These have been quite overcome through the persistent denial of the claims of mortal mind. This same child, when a baby, had a chronic tear in one eye, which my sister (a trained nurse) declared she probably would always have, as she herself had had the same trouble for as long as she could remember. My daughter's eyes are now both quite clear, and have been so for several years. My children have been healed quickly, sometimes instantaneously, of cold, chilblains, alarming cough, ulcerated tooth, earache, and wasp stings. They have also had painless dental work done, and have been divinely protected from fire, infection, and storms. My daughter has been enabled on more than one occasion to demonstrate the power of Truth for herself and her little brother, when discord in various forms has arisen, by reading and understanding the story of David and Goliath as given in the seventeenth chapter of I Samuel. It is worth a lot to hear her read, "for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?"
For myself, I wish to acknowledge freedom from being obliged to take periodic doses of medicine, and the instantaneous overcoming of headaches and burns. I am grateful for harmonious conditions manifested at the births of three children, which were in striking contrast to a former experience when the baby was lost and I was left a cripple for about a year. This latter condition though considerably improved, did not entirely leave me until after I had been studying Christian Science for some time. With the help of a practitioner, whooping cough and bronchial catarrh have been overcome. A sprained ankle was healed overnight. I am also grateful for the comfort and peace which took the place of grief and the sense of irreparable loss after the passing on of a dearly loved little son. This healing was slow, but is now fully established. A quick and irritable temper has been overcome, and I have also been healed of rheumatism. A lost purse has been restored on two different occasions, by maintaining the fact of God's unerring guidance. A pest of small black beetles suddenly appeared in the house, but was quickly gotten rid of through the understanding that each of God's ideas has its rightful place in His creation.
I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to Christian Science for these and other blessings, and I thankfully acknowledge God's loving-kindness as taught by Christ Jesus, and again brought home to us by the loving self-sacrifice of Mrs. Eddy.—Edinburgh, Scotland.
