Christian Science has meant so...

From the December 1928 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science has meant so much to me ever since I was a child that I find words inadequate to express my gratitude. Our first contact with Christian Science came through the healing of my mother of a very severe form of eczema. Since medical treatment had brought no relief, a friend suggested that we try Christian Science. In a very short time my mother was well. That was twenty years ago, and there has never been the slightest return of the trouble.

During the years that have followed we have had many more proofs that the understanding of God and man, as taught in Christian Science, frees from disease and discord. In addition to healings of colds, sick headaches, and other minor troubles, my own family have experienced restored health in cases of inflammatory rheumatism, influenza, lumbago, quinsy, and pneumonia.

About two years ago I myself had an experience which I know only Christian Science could have made possible. Early one morning I became aware that our first baby would soon be with us, although he had not been expected for approximately six weeks. The practitioner was telephoned to, and she did her loving work. It was a delightful March morning with a glorious sunrise, which I enjoyed during our twenty-five mile drive to the sanitarium. On arriving there the nurses assured us that the baby could not possibly arrive for at least two hours; so my husband left the sanitarium. He had been gone but a few minutes when the little fellow was with me. In addition to its being practically instantaneous, the birth was painless. No one can ever know the extent of the joy and gratitude I felt over this experience. It seemed almost a miracle, but it was in fact just what the physician himself pronounced it, "an ideal birth." Although premature, the babe was well developed and strong. He has needed no extra care, and has taken his little steps most naturally.
