It is now over four years since Christian Science found me. I was at that time a very weary woman, suffering from rheumatoid arthritis; and although under the care of two doctors, I gradually grew worse. I was sent to different hospitals, but gained no relief; and at last a doctor said that I could not be cured, but the pain could be eased a little. This was my condition when Christian Science found me; and I can never express my gratitude to the practitioner for her loving work and help. She spoke to me of the God of love, who heals all manner of disease and sin; and in about eight weeks I was healed of the rheumatoid arthritis, and of headaches and constipation from which I had suffered for years. I gave up all medicine the first day I heard of Christian Science, and put my trust in God; and I have never taken any material remedy from that day to this. My mother, who was present at the first interview with the practitioner, was healed instantaneously of diabetes for which she had been dieting for five years, and has had no return of it.
We have had many healings in the home since then. The children have been healed of coughs. The youngest boy, six years old, was hit on the top of the head with a cricket bat and to mortal sense was injured badly; but by knowing that he is God's perfect child, he was quickly healed. My husband was healed in one night of a scalded foot. With the loving help of a practitioner he did not lose one day's work. On October 1, 1926, I had a wonderful proof of the efficacy of Christian Science at the birth of our baby girl. To me it was a wonderful experience, for there was no pain and everything was most harmonious.
For all these healings I am indeed very grateful; but I am even more grateful for the better understanding of God and of the Bible, which I now love to read. I am grateful also for membership in The Mother Church, and for The Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel. My desire is to live as near as I can to God, and to help others as I have been helped.—New Mills, Derbyshire, England.
