Filled with great joy and gratitude, I am writing this testimony in order to give, perhaps, to someone hopelessly sick, as I was, courage and confidence. In February, 1924, I was taken seriously ill. I was treated at home by three physicians for three months, but without avail. Then I was taken to a private hospital, where I was treated by two physicians; but here, too, I did not see any improvement. On the contrary, after being there for four weeks I was in such a bad condition that I was conveyed to another hospital. I remained there for six months; and as I was getting worse, I was taken home, where we consulted three more physicians. Again, after six months we thought the end had come, for I was so weak I wanted only to sleep. The physician warned my dear ones that I would probably pass quietly on in my sleep.
In this extremity our attention was called to Christian Science. We sent for a practitioner, and after her first visit we were all joyful and hopeful that I would be helped. In a short time I improved, all discomfort left me, and I began to take up my household duties again. During my sickness my husband sold our business. Now he has taken another of the same kind, and I am well and able to manage it. I am endeavoring to apply in daily life the truths I have learned, in this way to prove my sincere gratitude to God.— St. Margrethen, Switzerland.
