I am grateful for Christian Science because I have found it not only a practical, but a satisfying religion; a religion that shows us how to work out our own salvation, or in other words to understand our true relationship to God and to see man as God made him—perfect, harmonious; a religion that when rightfully put into practice solves and adjusts our every need, physical, moral, mental.
On page 192 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy writes, "In Science, you can have no power opposed to God, and the physical senses must give up their false testimony." Many times the truth contained in this sentence has destroyed physical ailments, such as nervous headaches, colds, and many other discordant conditions. Glasses have been laid aside after being worn for over fifteen years. I had been told by a specialist that I should always have to wear them.
In her book "Rudimental Divine Science" (p. 2) our Leader writes, "Healing physical sickness is the smallest part of Christian Science;" and how true this is, because Christian Science changes our outlook entirely. Whereas before knowing of this teaching I was discontented, unhappy, moody, and selfish in many ways, since knowing it contentment, happiness, unselfishness, and a more even disposition have replaced these false habits. All this is the result of a greater sense of appreciation and gratitude to God for the realization of His constant care and guidance, which has taken place in my consciousness through the study of Christian Science.
