It was about eight years ago that I turned to Christian Science. While making a short journey I met a woman who told me something about this Science. Even then I felt a breath of divine Love when she told me that Christian Science healings were brought about in the same manner as Christ Jesus healed. As I w,s a great sufferer at the time, and had applied many remedies and spent a great deal of money for medicine, but all without avail, I was more than pleased at this meeting. A few days later I went to a Christian Science practitioner, who treated me with great kindness and patience, so that gradually one complaint after another—such as melancholy, heart disease, attacks of dizziness, nervousness, and many lesser ills—disappeared.
In 1921, I was taken ill with dropsy in its worst form. I immediately asked a practitioner for help, which was given at once, but fear was so very evident that I felt obliged to consult a physician. With the help of the practitioner, however, the fear soon disappeared; and in a few weeks the error was overcome. But as my right thinking had still taken very little root, this error returned again with all its inharmonious illusions. From that time my understanding began to grow slowly, and I feel now that God's love will heal every disease, whatever it may be called, if only we have confidence in God and an enlightened enough understanding of Him.
I can frankly acknowledge that since I have known of Christian Science I have become a different person, one who has found freedom, and who again takes pleasure in work. From the depths of my heart I thank God for these proofs of His great love and goodness. I am also sincerely grateful to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.— Riggisberg, Switzerland.
