About three months previous to my coming into Christian Science I became deeply interested in the Bible. I shall always be grateful to the Gideon Bible Society, which distributes Bibles in the hotels. It was while traveling with my husband over twelve years ago that the Bible became a bosom companion. When a child I was devoted to religion, but after that, up to the time that I became again acquainted with the Bible, nearly all I had learned about religion was forgotten. Then, through a friend who was also traveling, I learned of Christian Science, and this was the turning point in my experience. Christian Science lifted me to a great extent out of self-consciousness, forget fulness, fear, and selfishness, and is awakening me to the joy of helping others. I have also been healed of bowel trouble which had caused much suffering since childhood, and of a severe cold which developed into pains in the back of my neck, the right shoulder, and arm, so that I could not sleep for two days and nights.
I have also been healed of a bald spot which appeared on the front of my head during the early part of my experience in Christian Science. When first noticed, it was about the size of a ten-cent piece, but in a few days it was as large as a silver dollar. I then became frightened and asked for absent treatment in Christian Science. In a week or so new hair began rapidly to grow in the place, and I have never had trouble of this kind since.
I am very grateful for having had the privilege of serving for six years on one of the literature distribution committees of a Christian Science branch church. Previous to taking up this beautiful and joyous activity, I had had none of the business experience which this committee work affords, and which proved to be just what I needed. Through it I gained confidence, alertness, poise, courage, and a better sense of love for my fellow-man; and this, of course, meant growth in Christian Science. I am profoundly grateful for all that this blessed truth has done for me; for membership in The Mother Church as well as a branch church; and for class instruction, for which I shall never cease to be thankful. I thank God for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who were pure and unselfish enough to sacrifice a false sense of life, that all might share the blessings of Truth.—New York, New York.
