Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in French]

In 1920 my attention was drawn...

From the December 1929 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In 1920 my attention was drawn to Christian Science. Hungering for a knowledge of Truth, I procured a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began to read it, but without studying it very seriously and without deriving the hoped-for advantages.

During the two years which followed, intestinal troubles disappeared without the help of medicine. The last attack, however, which manifested itself with more alarming symptoms, compelled me to remain in bed. The friend who was caring for me, becoming disturbed over my condition, asked a physician to come without telling me. After an examination the physician diagnosed the case as an attack of appendicitis, and said that I should be operated on at once. The thought of a surgical operation met with such opposition from me that I decided to try Christian Science.

A practitioner lovingly treated me at once, and confidently told me that I did not need to be operated upon. While I was returning home, a great sense of well-being took possession of me, and an abdominal trouble which had persisted until then instantaneously disappeared. This beautiful demonstration of the healing power of Truth made me lose all faith in medicine, and my healing would have been permanent if I had always obeyed the rules of Christian Science. Not knowing yet how to struggle efficaciously against error, I had a relapse. The dear practitioner was told of it, and after two or three absent treatments the error definitely gave way to harmony.
