When "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was first lent to me, fifteen years ago, I was very sick. I read the book, and although I did not seem to understand it, I suddenly realized that life is not in the body. This illumination lifted me out of suffering sufficiently to enable me to lead a normal life, even to the playing of tennis regularly. Three years passed before I heard anything more of the Christian Science movement and its channels for reaching and helping humanity. Nevertheless, after being abroad, I returned to South America with a copy of Science and Health which I obtained from a second-hand bookstore. Then I went to a Christian Science practitioner for help. One of the first things she pointed out was the need of studying the Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lessons, a thing I did not see the force of at the time. I am so grateful for being told that I should study these Lessons provided by our Leader in her compassionate love for mankind. They have ever since been a source of constant help and inspiration, and through them I am gaining a clearer understanding of God. I have been healed of headaches, bilious attacks, heart trouble, self-consciousness, nervousness, and fear to an extreme degree.
Four and a half years ago I broke a tendon in my leg while playing tennis. Next morning I wrote to a practitioner for help. In less than a week the leg was better, and it has never caused me any trouble since. I have also had a wonderful healing of grief. For the revelation that came to me then my joy and gratitude never cease. I am indeed learning to trust God more, and matter less. My life has been made better in every way, healthier, more active, and I have a greater desire to serve where God would have me serve.— La Plata, Argentina, South America.
