Testimonies of Healing

Each time I receive a new Journal...

From the February 1929 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Each time I receive a new Journal or Sentinel, I turn first to the testimonies of healing. Several times the reading of these has benefited me in the overcoming of some difficulty which at the moment was harassing me.

I have been a student of Christian Science for more than fifteen years, and my heart is full of gratitude for the innumerable blessings I have enjoyed through its teachings. In times of great home difficulties, for which I took up the study of Christian Science, it has taught me to look at man as the perfect reflection of the perfect Father; in times of sorrow over the apparent loss of very dear relatives, it has lessened my grief by showing me that there is no separation in Mind, Life being eternal; in difficulties where no human help could prevail, the realization of my relationship to God, divine Principle, has given me wisdom to solve my problems.

Several months ago I experienced a beautiful healing. Coming home one day with my arms full of books, I slipped and fell full length on the street, hurting my right arm and shoulder. Before realizing my condition I said aloud: "God is my Helper. Nothing has happened." It being a very busy road, with much traffic, I had, to get up very quickly; and soon I reached my home, which fortunately was near. On my arrival there some loving help was at once given me to put the outward appearances right; and since "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," as Mrs. Eddy states in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494), I very soon got help from a practitioner who came to our house just at that time. We set to work at once to know that nothing could separate me for a single moment from God, my creator, whatever mortal sense might try to make me believe. As a result of the unwavering and loving stand the practitioner took, I felt uplifted by each treatment given to me; and the intense suffering disappeared. After two weeks I could undertake my work again, for which I was very grateful indeed.
