Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in Swedish]

I desire to express my deeply felt...

From the November 1930 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I desire to express my deeply felt gratitude for Christian Science. I had been seeking in vain, as it seemed, for health; I was struggling hard to maintain a livelihood and to pay my debts, feeling far away from God, and having almost lost hope that He would help me. In my search for a closer relation to God I had joined a dissenter congregation, only to find what was offered me to be husks, void of spiritual nourishment. My extremity proved to be God's opportunity. In January, 1925, a friend asked if I would not try Christian Science. I had never heard of it before, but decided to give it a trial and so turned to a practitioner for help. From the very first visit I felt as if the current of my life had turned; and after the fourth visit I was completely healed of a facial abscess, which had been contracted through a severe cold, and which had caused me much suffering.

Criticism and condemnation from former friends, and the constant endeavor on their side to shake my new-found faith, caused me to walk through deep waters, which at times threatened to engulf me. But I clung to divine Love, encouraged and upheld by my new friends, whose love and patience I shall never forget. Divine Love has led me "beside the still waters," and I know that I "shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." For the calm and certain sense of God's protection and care, for the opportunity to study the Lesson-Sermons in Swedish, and for the light that shines on the path before me, I owe endless gratitude to God, and to His brave messenger to this age, Mary Baker Eddy, as well as to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, whose gift to humanity of spiritual healing Mrs. Eddy has again discovered, and in her love for mankind made accessible to us in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

To all who are struggling with great difficulties I wish to say, Press on! "Love is not hasty to deliver us from temptation, for Love means that we shall be tried and purified" (Science and Health, p. 22).—
