When I look back over the years during which I have known something of Christian Science and realize how different they have been from the ones which went before, I appreciate more and more what a debt of gratitude I owe for this glorious truth that has been shown to be available to all. Each problem, mental as well as physical, has been worked out, though not always in the way I might have wished.
At one time, while I was having help on another problem, my sight became so dim that I could discern only the outlines of objects. This was overcome in two weeks, and has never recurred. Neuritis was healed as the result of the first turning to the truth. At that time as I was in a great deal of pain, although I had been under treatment for a few days, a kindly neighbor asked if she could not bring me a hot water bottle. I consented, but I did not gain any comfort and soon realized that I must take a firm stand. This seemed to be the necessary step, for when I relied completely on the truth I was free. In the two or three years that followed there came suggestions that this trouble might return; but these were met with denial, aided by the confidence gained from the first healing, and in the last eleven years it has not even threatened.
I have been healed of abscesses in the ears which recurred for a period of two years. With this healing came the blessing of more regular study and church attendance. A tendency to colds has been overcome, also constipation, hemorrhoids,and, to a great degree, fear. I am learning to reflect love even when seemingly subjected to criticism or unloving judgment, and to know that I can see only the child of God in others and in myself.
