Testimonies of Healing

It is with a deep sense of gratitude...

From the May 1930 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I testify to the healing power of Christian Science and what it has done for my husband and our little boy. After I had been to two church services to learn what Christian Science was, my husband was taken very ill with shingles in the worst form. A doctor declared it would be a month before he could be moved, and then it would depend on certain conditions. I remarked to my husband that according to what I had gathered at those services, God does not know sickness, and asked him if I could borrow the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, from the public library. I got the book, and we read until two o'clock in the morning, and were very much uplifted; and three and a half hours afterwards he was up getting ready for work—healed.

I am also grateful for a healing our little boy had several years ago. He was in town with me. I had turned to speak to someone, and on looking back again I could not see the child, but heard the sound of a motor car passing right over him. I instantly declared the truth that accidents are not known to divine Love, and held to it until, on the way to the infirmary, he became conscious. On arriving there I at once had him examined by a specialist, who said I must not leave him as he would give him but two hours at the most to live. He, however, said he would come again the following morning.

About ten o'clock that night I went to a Christian Science practitioner, and she remarked to me, "What is morning, but 'Light; symbol of Truth; revelation and progress'?" (Science and Health, p. 591.) I went back again with that thought, until at three o'clock these words were given to me (ibid.,p. 242): "The divine Science of man is woven into one web of consistency without seam or rent." Then at five o'clock our little boy said to me in broken words (ibid.,p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive."
