WALK WITH GOD

From the October 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"The night is dark!" "Nay, child, there is no night,
Love's ray shines ever, illumining the way;
Our Father-Mother God, He is thy light,
So shall the darkness seem as clear as day.
Awake from false beliefs, look upward nor repine,
Pillar of cloud by day, of fire by night, is thine."

"The road is rough, and hard for tired feet!"
"God's children mount on wings as eagles do.
They weary not nor faint, but far and fleet
Speed forward at His bidding joyously.
Gird thou thyself with truth, with peace thy feet be shod,
And wear for sure defense the armor of thy God."

"The way is long!" "Yet Jesus went before,
Bearing the cross; wilt thou not share his load?
Lifting with love the burdens of the poor,
The sick and sinning helping on the road?
Christ Jesus ever knew and did his Father's will,
He feared not storm nor night; heed thou his 'Peace,
be still.' "
